The NRA has reinstated the original INSTRUCTOR LED TRAINING for the Basics of Pistol Shooting course.

Boulder Valley Sportsmen’s Assn. will revise the monthly National Rifle Association Basics of Pistol Shooting Course for Women only, back to the original course. The course is scheduled to run from 8:00 am. to 3:30 pm. This will be an ALL Instructor Led Training Course, no online Phase 1 will be needed.

Check website for class dates. The course is offered monthly from May through October.

The course will emphasize the safe and proper handling and use of pistols through knowledge, skill, and attitude. Participants will learn firearm safety, pistol parts and operation, fundamentals of pistol shooting, care and cleaning, storage options, purchasing guidelines and live-fire exercises and qualifications on the pistol range. Lisa Mazzenga owner of “All Fired Up Ladies” is a NRA Certified Instructor in Basic Pistol, Home Firearm Safety, Personal Protection in the Home, and Refuse To Be A Victim. She will provide hands on instruction in the classroom and at the range. A range qualification and written examination must be passed in order to receive a certificate. Students will receive a student handbook, handouts, ammunition for range, use of instructor’s firearms, and safety equipment along with the course completion certificate.

Civilian Marksmanship Program

The final CMP shoot of the three shoots for this year will be on Sept 16 at 09:00 am. These shoots are designed to be instructional in nature and give the shooter various shooting scenarios.

  • Stage 1 - 10 rounds, offhand position, time limit of 13 minutes
  • Stage 2 - 10 rounds, rapid fire, sitting position, with a clip change, time limit of 60 seconds
  • Stage 3 - 10 rounds, rapid fire, prone position, with a clip change, time limit 70 seconds
  • Stage 4 - 20 rounds, prone position, time limit 23 minutes

High-powered rifles with open sights are permitted to participate. You should bring a minimum of 60 rounds for the event. All targets are set at 100 yards.

The cost is $5.00 for the day to cover expenses.

The event is open to the public.
